It is heartening to note that this article lays stress on people participation in Governance. Even with the best of technology, a city would remain dumb if its people are not smart. It is absolutely critical for the success of Smart City mission that the people participate in the governance actively.

The picture above of smart city highlights the key components. We all are focusing and pushing all these components, except “Smart People”. This is not IT literate or knowledgeable people. But people who are sensitive to the facilities available and how to maintain the same. A cultural shift from what we Indians are used to, when living in India. Outside India we have no choice, but to become Smart People. Government, NGO’s, civil society, everyone need to focus on this component, else the Smart Cities shall not remain Smart because of non-sensitive, smart people.
