villages should be developed on par with the chosen 100 Smart Cities
Attending an inaugural function NGO Swarna Bharath Trust Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said villages should be developed on par with the chosen 100 Smart Cities to be completely self-reliant by 2020.
“We understand that only Smart Cities won’t help, thus we have embarked on to make our villages smart as well,” said Singh, adding that not just the Government, but the participation of Non-Governmental Organisations are also important in this regard.
Speaking at the inaugural function NGO Swarna Bharath Trust here, Singh said: “It won’t be wrong to say that connectivity revolution in independent India was brought by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji.”
“We are identifying 300 model villages that will be transformed into Smart Villages. Private participation is required to fill the resource gap”, he observed.
Mr. Rajnath Singh said the nationalization of banks in 1969 was considered a turning point but its purpose was not served as a huge number of people did not have bank accounts.
