The Andhra pradesh government has constituted a special purpose vehicle each for Vizag and Kakinada as part of the smart cities programmer of the Union ministry of urban development. While the SPV for Vizag has been named as the Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL), it has been termed as Kakinada Smart City Corporation Limited (KSCCL) for Kakinada.

Dehradun Smart City to focus on Doon tea estate only

Uttarakhand State government has said that the state will be focusing only in the Doon tea estate only for its smart city.

It was reported that the Chief Minister Harish Rawat has said that the government twice searched for an alternative land but could not find any other than the Dehradun tea garden.

“We had no option but to acquire the Dehradun tea garden land for the smart city project,” he said, adding that as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, he had two choices, either to accept the Centre’s historic offer of smart city or forgo the project.

Harish Rawat directed all departments to utilize the budget before the end of the financial year. State Congress president Kishore Upadhyay and Forest Minister Dinesh Agarwal were present at the news conference.

The Chief Minister has also expressed concern over rising trend of environment activism in Uttarakhand. He said it was a matter of concern that Uttarakhand was expected to protect the environment at the cost of development.
