U.K 20 innovative companies have decided to offer smart city solutions for Kochi. A group of representatives will visit the city between November 11 and 12 and meet with government officials to join hands with a new partnership.

As per the published news, the German smart city solutions firms decided to provide its support, services, and products to develop Hyderabad as a smart city along with Bhubaneswar, Kochi and Coimbatore cities.
Kochi Smart City Project is all set to get a fillip with the Cochin Smart Mission Ltd, for the implementation of completely formed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). the government has decided to hold the first board of directors meeting at Government Guest house on 28 March .
According to the latest news, Germany will help to develop India’s three Kochi, Bhubaneswar and Coimbatore cities as a smart city in India. This information has been released on Monday, the Germany will help to develop three smart cities in India.
According to the news from a source it is said that British Government will extend its support to Kochi’s efforts to enter the list of the first 20 cities that will be selected by the Centre for the ‘100 Smart Cities’ project.
It is said that UK-based consulting agency Atkins will provide the technical assistance to Kochi for designing and engineering the projects that will be submitted under the 100 Smart Cities programme. The firm will provide its consultancy services worth Rs 1.8 crore totally free of cost for Kochi.
Atkins is one of the world’s most-respected design, engineering and project management consultancies. It is a major supplier of business advisory and infrastructure services to the UK Government.
“Nearly 1.5 lakh tourists from UK are visiting Kochi annually. This is also a major reason for providing help to Kochi. Apart from the consultancy services worth Rs 1.8 crore, we will also give an additional aid of Rs 50 lakh to the city,” said Bharath Joshy.
Smart City Mission Director Muhammed Haneesh said that the projects under Kochi’s Smart City initiative will be finalised within two days. The project team will hold discussions with the officials of Kochi Corporation, district administration and GCDA in the coming days and will finalise the proposals on December 3.
The Kerala government will be inaugurated the first Smart City Kochi at the end of August or September. Kochi is a IT special economic zone and the construction work of 6.5 lakh sq ft building is nearing completion, Kerala chief secretary Jiji Thomson said on Friday.
According to news the construction of the Smart City Kochi began four years ago and the inauguration of the first building was postponed several times. But this time the Kerala government has been finally decided to inaugurate its first smart city kochi.
“There are several problems confronting the project like encroachment, power supply issues etc, which will be solved quickly. The leading road of the project will be repaired and widened”, Thomsan said .
“However, these problems have not affected the construction work. Around 40% of the space in the first building has already been booked,” said Baju George, managing director of Smart City Kochi. The first building is expected to provide employment to 6000. The project when completed is expected to generate 90,000 jobs.
