PM Narendra Modi’s dream project 100 smart city, remaining cities is selected. Gandhinagar, the capital of Prime Minister’s home State Gujrat is selected for the smart cities mission with Sonia Gandhi’s Rae Bareilly when the Center selects the remaining 40 of 100 smart cities on June 23.
Government has decided to add 6 more smart cities in in the state of Gujarat. This includes Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh. Dholera region will be developed under Special Investment Region (SIR),” said Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, minister of education (primary, secondary and adult), higher and technical education of Gujarat.
The centre has already announced the 100 smart cities mission. And said that these smart cities will be constructed in three phases, the first phase which is to be started this year will be aiming to constructing 20 smart cities while the rest would be done in two batches of 40 each.
Initially announced out of the 100 smart cities to be constructed Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of cities with 13 in number and it is followed by Tamil Nadu with 12 smart cities then comes Maharashtra (10) and Gujarat and Karnataka (six each). With the new smart cities plan the total numbers of smart cities in Gujarat will be 12.
